20 years later. Prypiat is an abandoned city in the northern Ukraine. It was home to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant workers. Its population had been around 50,000. On April 26, 1986, the fourth reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded at 01:23 AM local time. All permanent residents of Prypiat were evacuated due to unsafe radioactive levels. Apartment buildings, swimming pools, hospitals and other buildings were all abandoned, and everything inside the buildings was left behind, including records, papers, TVs, children's toys, furniture, valuables, and clothing, etc. Twenty years later we went there with Red Cross to shoot photos for the charity project. The final aim was to collect money for the medical equipment for thyroid gland scanning.
